I’ll be honest. Today I’m really annoyed with my self.
I’m annoyed with my selfishness.
I’m annoyed with my pride
I’m annoyed with my lack of discipline.

We as people can blame circumstance and others for our lack of joy and life and agony. But in reality , if you take away outward temptations and pain, something still remains that causes us to cry out for someone to bring us relief. Me. I still remain I can’t walk away, hide, or even ignore myself. I can lie to myself, but eventually reality hits and I must choose to face up or become apathetic.

I can so relate with the words of Paul.

“Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?“ Romans 7:24

Sometimes within Christianity we carry about an attitude of cleanness. What I mean by that is, we have a fear that if we spend time with someone who is outwardly dirty, we will be contaminated. What we fail to notice is that within us lies the contamination of Pharisaical pride. Oh if only we could realize that our life and significance is not found within ourselves but in Jesus Christ.

John the Baptist had it right when he said, “ I must decrease and He must increase.”

Maybe the most incredible truth to me concerning identity in Christ, is, that Jesus claims me as His. He lets me stake my identity with Him. There’s a risk, I at times can and am a poor representation of my Savior. And still He declares that I am His!

If you have a moment today, take a minute and read Ephesians chapter 1 and recognize how many times the words “In Christ” are written. It really is phenomenal.

So today, if you are annoyed with yourself, remember that Christ came to rescue us from ourselves and even more, He has given us a new identity in Him..

“Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus form the law of sin and death.” Romans 7:25&8:1-2
