“Remember, it is the passion that ignites people; not music, not words, not noise, passion.”
One of my dear friends wrote this in an email to me this morning. It brought tears to my eyes because I was once again reminded of how extreme it is to have a relationship with Christ. So many things pull my affections. So many times my time is divided: my heart is divided, I’m continuously distracted by surface issues; thinking that if I get the visible in order I will somehow be where I need to be. How untrue! God calls us to live in extreme way; going against the grain of secular society and Christian propriety; recklessly abandoning self and desire and diving into a faith and reliance upon Him. This is not a natural or easy adjustment. Even the eyes to see and long for something like this are a result of the Spirit.
For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
2 Corinthians 4:11
May it be His life, manifested in us, that is our passion!
